The Gum is an item in Otherworld Legends.
While this item is equipped, breaking a crate has 30% chance of spawning an ally Slime wherever the crate was destroyed. Ally Slime deals 10 damage. If slime splits in two, both smaller slimes' damage is increased by 2.5. This Slime will leave the current room if the player moves to another, meaning it effectively lasts the whole scene until it is killed. It's possible to have several Slimes on screen.
Category boost: When you equipped at least 3 items of Summon category, including Gum itself, obstacles now spawn Champion Slimes instead of normal ones. They are bigger, have higher health and slowing trail, but deal 5 damage instead of 10 and don't duplicate when take damage, only shrink.
This item is good on scenes with many boxes, since you can build up an army of slime fighters that persist through rooms. However, it won't work at all in scenes like the Lost Desert, or very poorly in Elfland, so it might not be the best pick sometimes.

- This item's function is likely a reference to how people often leave used wads of gum lying around the place, since they're too lazy to actually throw it away. The Slime is also the enemy that is the most similar to a piece of gum, hence the fact that this item spawns Slimes.
